In May 2020 I downloaded @officialc25k as a way to get outside during quarantine.
By April 2021, I was running a full hour nonstop.
Running completely changed my life.
And not in the way most people might think.
I didn’t land a lucrative brand deal or become an ultramarathoner or break any world records.
But you know how I DID change?
By believing in myself.
By increasing my self-confidence.
By learning that I could set a challenging goal and reach it.
It was out on those runs that I decided to ask if I was getting #EqualPayforEqualWork
It was out on those runs that I grieved that “dream job” that turned out to be more of a nightmare.
It was out on those runs that I accepted an initial recruiter interview that turned into a job offer earning 30% more.
It was out on those runs that I truly learned to believe in myself, love myself, and put myself above my career.
It’s almost 5 years later and I’m still running.
I’m still learning.
I’m still advocating for myself in the workplace, and helping other #FirstGen Latinas and WOC do the same.
I’m still helping my clients secure an average of $30K in salary increases.

This picture from June 2021 was my iPhone featured photo today and it made me pause and smile.
It was one of the first pictures I took when I started my coaching business.
The girl in that photo was SO SCARED.
She had just accepted a new job offer and had just signed on a new house.
She never could have imagined the life I’d be living now.
But she KNEW there was so much more in store for her.
She KNEW she had to get started.
I remember I looked up “how to take a headshot” and watched a few video tutorials.
I found a tiny corner of space where I had a blank wall.
I was in the middle of packing so the place was a mess.
My “set up” was a 3-step ladder, some assorted puzzles for additional height. I used painters tape to hold my phone up.
It was SCRAPPY.
And I am so, so proud of that version of me. She’s the reason I’m here now.
So whatever you may be wanting to do, get started.
Take the leap.
Bet on yourself.
I promise you, you’ll be so proud of yourself regardless of how it turns out.

Social media doesn’t tell the full picture.
Slide 1 is my Instagram story this morning.
Slide 2 is my text with my best friend.
I was so proud of myself for going on a run after my barre class that I posted about it to my story.
What I didn’t post was that I was crying at the doctor’s office yesterday because she told me to lose weight and that was super triggering.
I didn’t do this on purpose.
It’s just easier to post about my wins rather than the things that are frustrating and upsetting.
The same thing happens on LinkedIn and when people are job searching.
It’s easier for most people to post when they get a new job and a new promotion than when they were laid off unexpectedly or have been looking for a job for a very long time.
And even though the “I’m open to work posts” are becoming more common, you know what people are NOT posting?
When they are dealing with a micromanager.
When they were denied a promotion.
When they keep getting interrupted during meetings.
And while I am definitely NOT saying that you should air your career dirty laundry on social media, I am saying this:
Social media is NOT the full picture.
You need a network of support.
That network, aka your community, can lend a listening ear and help talk things out. Please, learn on your community and on your friends!
After that, if you still need support, I invite you to book a Career Recharge Mini Package!
Swipe for details and how you can get started!

Already cried at the doctor’s. Here’s hoping I don’t also cry with the accountant
Do you get stressed by either of these?
